About Inn on Main Vacation Rentals

After more than 19 years as innkeepers, Dan and Nancy Ward decided in January 2018 to ease into almost-retirement and into the historic Victorian home they have playfully called the “fantasy house.” Inn on Main Street is now their private home, but the accommodations that share the lot are available as vacation rentals.

Two are former B&B guest rooms. The Garden and the Forest have been enhanced to include a mini-fridge, microwave and Keurig coffeemaker each. Each has a whirlpool tub with shower, Dish TV, gas fireplace, free WiFi, window AC and a queen bed with B&B quality linens. Each room also has a desk and comfy chairs. Cooking facilities are not available, so we advise guests to explore the excellent cafes in Weaverville and Asheville.

The third rental is the former owners’ apartment, now called the Mountain View Cottage. It features two bedrooms, two full baths, full kitchen, a great room and spacious new deck with a view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This is a perfect solution for families, those wanting longer stays or two couples traveling together.

These accommodations were created to support the creation of Inn on Main Street. The main house was built in 1902 by Dr. Zebulon Vance Robinson, who treated patients and raised a family in the Victorian home. In time, it passed through many hands, and was once a temporary high school, a temporary parsonage, a summer guest house for Floridians escaping the heat, and finally a bed and breakfast. Joel and Melba Goldsby did the restoration that returned the home to its Victorian glory. After three years as innkeepers, they passed the baton to the Wards, who have enjoyed two decades of new friends, remarkable stories as hosts to thousands. After serving about 20,000 breakfasts, they decided it was time for a rest. But they’re still on site and glad to help out with ideas for things to see and where to eat.
